Overview

Came across a neat website that lets you scan your hands and design a custom fit keyboard.

What I learned

Had a lot of fun learning all about how to build keyboards. I started with the default example, added some screens, rotary encoder, selected the tented base option. Printing it took a few attempts. Lots to learn there about supports, editing pregenerated models. Once it was all dry fitting together right, I started wiring. Took a few evenings but I started to get the hang of it. The left side took probably 70% of the time. By the time I started on the right I had the process figured out, and had the software sorted. It’s functional, but probably not done. Overall it was a great project and I’d definitely reccomend anyone with an interest in keyboards, 3d printing and electronics try it out. I definitely spent more than I needed to in some places. Buying parts in bulk when I only needed a few (I’ll use them one day), buying parts then changing my mind, or simply getting parts that woudn’t work. Even still, the total bill was less than buying a comparable premade one.
